FAQ’s

What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept most major credit cards or procards. Purchase orders are acceptable for accounts approved for net terms. Email orders@silverscreendesign for a credit application.

Can I send you my own design instead of use one of yours?
Yes, we’d be happy to print your design. More than ½ our orders use our customer’s artwork or logos. Our designs are provided to you as a convenience. You can expect the same fine quality and service whether it’s your design or one of ours.

Is it more expensive if I send you a design instead of using one of yours?
In most cases, no. Pricing is predicated on several factors – the product you select, the quantity you order, and the number of colors and locations of your decoration. If your design has the same amount of colors as one of ours, the price for printing would be the same.

Do you charge an art charge if I give you my design?
If your design has been prepared in the format we need, then there would not be an art charge. If we have to make modifications to print it properly, there would be a fee. An estimate will be given to you once our art department reviews your file.

If I have my own design in what format should I send it?
To expedite your order, the ideal format for most of our printing methods would be:

  • Vector Art – suitable for all of our decorating methods.  Be sure to convert all text to outlines before submitting.  Colors should be specified as Pantone, not as RGB or CMYK
  • Photoshop Tiff or Jpeg – if single color, can be used for screen printing, embroidery, or digital printing.  If multicolor, suitable for digital printing primarily.  Must be 300 dpi or better when full size for any printing application.
  • These types of files can be sent to us for reference, but we will likely have to recreate your design to render it print ready (there may be a charge for this service): Microsoft Publisher, Word, Powerpoint, or clip art
  • Images and photos off the web are not acceptable if they are not at least 300 dpi when full size.
  • If you have questions about your file, send it to orders@silverscreendesign and let us take a quick look before requesting your quote.

How long do you keep our design on file?
We keep your artwork on file for 3 years. Check with us if your design is older than that..we may still have it.

I don’t have my own artwork, but I want something different that isn’t on your site. Can you design something for me?
You bet. Just tell us what you envision and we’ll put together a proof for you.

How much does it cost for you to create a custom design for me?
The first hour of designing is free. However, you must place an order before we will spend that hour on your proof. Changes after the first hour are billed at $45 per hour. A general estimate is given at the time you place your order.

Is there an art fee to use your design?
There is no art fee to use our design. However, if the schedule of events you want added to your poster is very long, or if you want it formatted in a calendar block form, there may be an additional charge for typesetting.

Will I see a proof before you print?
Absolutely. Proofs are provided free of charge. They are sent electronically but may also be faxed upon your request. If you find that we have made an error on your proof, we will correct it free of charge and send you a revised proof. If you make multiple changes to your information, however, there will be a charge of $45 per hour for reformatting or re-designing. If ordering posters with a schedule of events, it’s best to send us a complete schedule rather than a tentative schedule, to avoid extra charges.

What if there is an error on my order?
When we send you a proof, we also send you a copy of your order and ask you to make sure we’re printing the right product for you, in the correct colors and quantities. We will ask you to sign off on your order prior to printing. While we make ever effort to be accurate, It’s possible that we made an error when we entered the order into our system, or when we typeset your schedule. We depend on you to review the order carefully, for everything including spelling, omissions, etc. If you sign off on an order, we consider your approval final. We do not discount orders that have been printed incorrectly if you have given us approval.

What is a set up charge?
Different products require different methods of printing. For some of these methods there are set up charges, often based on the number of colors in your design. There are no set up fees on apparel or on most of our paper products, on the initial order or for reorders

Do I have to pay a setup charge when reordering?
Some of our novelty items may have set up charges upon reorder, but that charge is generally less than the original set up charge as long as the product is reordered within a year. Your customer service representative can give you information regarding reorder set up charges on the individual item you request.

What are your minimums?
The minimums for our products vary, and are indicated on our website for each individual item. If you would like to order a product but cannot order the minimum, contact our customer service department and we’ll see what we can do to accommodate your request.

Can I do assorted colors within an order?
On most products, yes. For example, you can order 100 blue, 100 white, and 100 orange t-shirts with the same print. However, if we need to change your imprint color in the middle of a run, there will be a slight fee for that.

Can I do assorted styles/products within an order?
Yes you can. We will combine as many different styles as we can that use the same image in the same size and same print location, to offer you a better quantity price break.

I need my products fast…do you offer a rush service?
Yes we do. Tell us when you need it and we’ll do everything we can to coordinate your order so it arrives by your deadline. It’s one of our specialties!

I saw a product I like that is not on your website…can you get it for me?
In most cases, yes! We’ll research our databases and find a match for you…just tell us what you need!
